WorldPride is coming to Amsterdam!
Big celebrations are coming in 2026. Amsterdam has just won the bid to host WorldPride (July 26 – August 8, 2026). The event will last sixteen days and will include a Pride Walk, a Pride March, and a conference about LGBT+ rights. The theme, “Unity,” stands for “the bond we should form within our community” and also asks us to remember that none of us are free until we are all free.
The year 2026 will mark 25 years of marriage equality in The Netherlands, which was the first country in the world to legalize same-sex marriage back in 2001.
Once again a big congratulations to Amsterdam Pride on this exciting news! 🏳️🌈

WorldPride in Copenhagen 2021
Every two years or so, WorldPride is held in a different city. One of our ROMEOs, Lars, shared his memories of last year’s WorldPride Copenhagen 2021 with us:
The whole city was wrapped in rainbows, glittering in all sorts of colours and brimming with queers from all around the world. Something like that I have never seen before. Every bus had flags, every Taxi’s radio was blasting a different queer anthem, and each major building was competing to be the most colorful. Me and a couple of (hetero) work colleagues from South Africa, Germany and other nations ended up on my first drag show which was happening open air next to the city hall. Halfway through the pandemic, it was such a relief. As amazing as Copenhagen is on a normal day, during this week its people outdid themselves. It was one huge party of joy, a display of an open-mindset and inclusion. A week I always like to think back to.

First Sydney and Washington, DC, then Amsterdam
Before Amsterdam, the WorldPride will take place in Australia and the USA. Sydney hosts the world famous Sydney Mardi Gras, which will surely be even more spectacular during WorldPride. Almost 600.000 attended the event in 2019, before the pandemic. In 2025, WorldPride will make a stop at Washington, DC before it comes to Amsterdam.
We are super excited! Amsterdam is our home city and we can’t wait to see you all here between July 26th and August 8th 2026 🥳
