Who Wants to Be THE Romeo?

You’ve probably noticed that we’ve been playing around with AI-generated content. From images and videos to even a bit of music. We know this is a hot topic, and we completely understand your curiosity and concerns. So let’s be transparent about what we’re doing and why.

Since we now have the ability to create any kind of content, we want to make it consistent, recognizable, and unmistakably ROMEO. Our first step? Creating six mascots, Romeo and his friends, for different themes. And we want you to vote what their final faces should look like.

You love music and sexy guys? Then you’ll love our casting show 🙂

Romeo

Born into wealth and privilege, he has everything, except freedom. He feels trapped by expectations and longs to escape and enjoy life with many hot men.

Julio

After years of fighting for his place in the world, he’s tired of being alone. What he craves now is love, someone to believe in. He’s loyal, protective, and hopeless romantic.

Othello

Calm and thoughtful, he is the quiet thinker and strategist of the group. Always there for his friends, yet trapped by his own self-doubt and to grant for himself the same joy.

Erik

Coming from the cold north, He is carrying both strength and pride. Outwardly, he’s a leader, powerful and confident, but inside, he’s hiding a longing for love.

Dostan

Of Mongolian heritage, witty and brave, he stands loyal to his friends with fierce loyalty and courage, always ready to stand up when trouble comes.

Beario

Is the Daddy of the group, joyful, genuine, and full of cuddles. He values friendship, laughter, and comfort over perfection. Proud of who he is, he refuses to change for anyone.

Yes, we know the candidates for a character look quite similar. That’s actually on purpose and we ask for your understanding. Think of it like a movie casting: each role has a specific look and personality. If we made it too open, they’d all end up blending together. 😣

We’ve also put a lot of heart into designing these characters, and we’re sure you’ll spot a bit of yourself in some of them. They’re inspired by Shakespeare’s play but with a modern twist. Six roles for now and maybe more to come later 😉

Why We’re Using AI Content

Let’s be clear: ROMEO is and always will be about real people. The users, community, our team. And that’s not changing! When we asked you in our AI survey about using artificial intelligence in dating, your answer was a clear “No, thank you,” and we couldn’t agree more.

But for things like visual content for decoration and marketing, AI opens exciting new creative possibilities.
Until now, we’ve relied on stock photos or older photoshoot material. Nice, but always out of context.

Ideally, we’d create tailor-made photoshoots every time, but in reality, that’s not practical for a small company like us. It takes too much time and resources, and finding the matching models is easier said than done.

That’s where AI helps us as an addition for content where it’s about decoration and where the name of the person doesn’t matter. Take our FOLSOM Berlin stall, for example. We hosted a fun meet & greet for fetish group admins and their members at our tent – full success!

But then comes the question: what goes on the flyer or backdrop of our stall? Normally, we’d just use a random sexy guy from our archive. Now, we can use our own characters, like Erik, to create a design that fits the topic perfectly and is recognizable as ROMEO.

Btw we tried once to make a photoshoot with Shakespears balcony scene, total desaster 😣

Clear Separation of AI and Reality

Another big concern about AI is that it can be misleading, and people might not realize what’s real and what’s not. We already see tons of fake AI videos online, and we fear it will soon be impossible to tell the difference.

That’s why we want to make it clear directly from the content itself. We’ll blend our imagery of Romeo’s Verona in the 1300s with the modern world, giving it a unique and unmistakable look, like in the casting video. It’s our way of saying: this is fantasy, not reality and we believe love, freedom, and fun never go out of style and are timeless.

Addition and not replacement

We hear the concerns, and we share many of them. AI is not here to replace anyone – it’s here to give us new creative freedom. As a small team, it helps us dream bigger and make more beautiful things for our community. We promise to use it responsibly and transparently. The heart of ROMEO will always belong to real people.

Your very real Romeo team 💙
